Teeth Pulled

Just had my wisdom teeth taken out....all four of them.  I'm writing this with two HUGE things of gauze in my mouth....not fun.  My only method of communicating is a notepad.....very frustrating.  Not in pain now, but they have assured me that it will come and hit me pretty hard...oh well.  What can you do?

What is the March For Life?

Here is a description on the official website;

Late in October 1973, grassroots prolife leaders became concerned that January 22, 1974, might come and go without properly memorializing the Supreme Court's infamous abortion decisions and without petitioning Congress for redress.
Nellie speaking at the March
No established right-to-life organization was prepared to undertake the planning, financial and operational responsibilities for a high impact prolife March on the U.S. Capitol. But, grassroots prolifers wanted to march! About thirty prolife veterans resolved themselves into a committee and began making plans for the first March for Life.
On January 22, 1974, the first March for Life was held on the West Steps of the Capitol. An estimated 20,000 committed prolife Americans rallied that day on behalf of our preborn brothers and sisters.
In 1974, the March for Life was incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization.
Our numbers have gradually risen through the years despite reduced numbers from the snow in 2000 and the terrible 9/11 attacks just months before the March 2002. These growing numbers give testimony to the increasing ranks of prolife Americans and to the importance of the March's work.
The Marchers Keep Marching
The First March 197420,000
March 197550,000
March 197665,000
Marches 1977-1998Up to 100,000
The 25th March 1998225,000
March 1999125,000
March 2000100,000
March 2001225,000
March 2002100,000
Marches 2003 - 2007200,000

LIFE PRINCIPLES

Knowing that no sound action can grow out of a vacuum of purpose, March for Life formulated the Life Principles as a forthright, comprehensive statement of the position motivating the prolife movement.
These Life Principles serve as the basis for prolife moral and legal theory by which the American people can overturn Roe v.Wade.

At the March early this year, the number was above 300,000 people supporting life, what a wonderful thing!  The really sad thing is that the media mostly ignored the March, or portrayed it as a few radicals who were completely out of whack (which isn't true).  Just to put it in perspective, you could fill the new Indianapolis Colts Stadium almost five times, and it's going to host the Super Bowl in a few years!  This was not some small group, and I'm hoping that it will grow to be even larger this coming year!

God Bless, and spread the word!

March For Life!

Over the weekend me, my dad, and my brother have decided to go on the March For Life in Washington D.C. this coming January!

What an amazing opportunity it is, I'm extremely thankful to my parents and God that, as of now, we're going!

There is a new twist to all of this, I'm making 100% of my sales on this site (and my Etsy site) go towards my trip, which means it's going towards the general cost of the trip, and anything that I need to bring, like spending money, a camera, etc.  So spread the word!

My goal is to sell everything here by the new year, so if you aren't going to get something, then email this to someone else!  There are two more scarves coming soon, the black zig-zag scarf, and the fall colors scarf, both of them will be $20, and both will be going to my trip.

God Bless, and let's sell!

TV update

Well, I didn't watch Doctor Who last night......  There was a football game on, and it was on in the house, but I didn't watch it.....I saw it in passing.  But I didn't sit (or stand) and watch it, and that's what counts!

Pictures coming tonight!

God Bless!

I'm on Etsy!

Just opened this tonight!

Wool scarf update......again

I'm going to finish the scarf tonight with all of my newfound 'free time.'  I'll post pictures tonight.

Siblings are watching the TV just to mess with me.....oh well.

God Bless!

-Sam

To watch TV, or not to...

Does anyone else spend too much time on the TV?  I don't know, it could just be me.

I saw the Duggars on TLC the other day, and they were talking about how they don't watch any TV, being rather ironic since they are on TV.  But they made a good point, we are all on it way too much.  So I decided to try a little experiment, and go as long as possible without turning on the television.......I might be going insane....

For the fun of it, I'm going to blog about this crazy quest of mine.  I'm going to put a gadget on the sidebar, counting the number of days that I don't turn on the TV.  Here are the rules for anyone who wants to join me.  And do join!

-You cannot turn on the TV, AT ALL!  Unless there is some major catastrophe, historic event, or a once-in-a-billion-year occurrence (like a planet disappearing or something).

-You are allowed to watch your favorite football team's game on Sunday (mine is the Colts, if I didn't see that, I'd go crazy).  But after the game, TURN THE TV OFF!!!

-You don't lose if there is some kiddie show on in the house and you happen to see it in passing.  You didn't turn it on, you're not watching it...you're okay.  Just don't watch it.

-You can watch Mass on EWTN or another channel.

-Again, you can't turn on the TV, don't think about it, take it away, put it in the basement (mine was already there), do something!

-Try to fill the time that you would be watching TV with, by reading, knitting, playing basketball (out in the cold), going snowboarding (later in the year), or even catching up on school.  Be creative with your time, and I think that we'll see that we're doing more, and doing better.

Alright, those are the guidelines.....now for the hard part.  There's a Doctor Who episode on tonight...I'll try to restrain myself.

God Bless, and good luck.

The knitting endeavors of last night

I said last night that I was helping my little brother how to knit, and that it was going okay.  Well.....then it didn't go okay.  I thought he was going to be okay for a few minutes on his own, but when I came back, I found out that he had dropped around five stitches.....oops....  Also, my 11 year old brother wanted to try knitting as well.......he got to about row two, and he had done it so tight that we had to pull it all out.

In the midst of all this, I decided that I wanted to use up some of the scrap yarn that was lying around to make a scarf.  I actually got pretty far.

mail.jpg

This is more of a fall colored scarf, which is good, being fall for quite some time now.  The pattern is basically gray, white, green and orange, with orange in-between each of the colors.  I'm over halfway done, and its looking good.  I stayed up past midnight working on it....probably not a great idea...

Anyways, I'm still working on the wool scarf, probably won't finish it tonight because I have a class, but probably tomorrow.

God Bless!

BTW, the green scarf pattern is still free, just send me an email, and I get it right to you.

Teaching Little Brother

Trying to teach my 8 year old brother how to knit........he's doing good so far....a little slow going, but going good.  I'll take a picture of what he's done later tonight.  He's really trying hard!

God Bless!

-Sam

Hold me to it...

The black wool scarf, I'm finishing it today...or at least I hope to....  But hey, hold me to it!  I'm going to post pictures tonight of it, whether or not it is finished.

Just to put it out there again, the post below has the link to a free scarf pattern!  To get it, click on the email link, request the pattern, and I'll get it to you!  If you download it, use it, like it, put some feedback up!  Or, if you don't use it, put some feedback up anyways.

New Ideas

Okay, new week.

For this week, I'm going to start putting out (in pdf's or some other format) the patterns to my scarves.  The reason for this, is because most people who spend their time mulling over websites like mine, are probably already knitting, and would think it lazy to actually buy something that they could make themselves (probably something I would think).  But the one thing that those people would like, are downloadable patterns that they can do themselves, for much cheaper than buying the scarves themselves.  Plus, there's no shipping, no wait, you'd have it in minutes, and be able to start right away!

So, that was my new idea for today...actually it was from yesterday....but who's counting?

Anyways, I'll start posting the patterns at night, after I finish with school.  If there are any scarves up here that you would like to see the patterns for, post comments, and I'll post the pattern.

Another slick idea I had, was to give out one pattern free, so that you would be able to try it out, or at least look at it to see if you like it.

Tonight, God willing, I'll put up the first one!  Check back then!

God Bless!

Here are the pic's

This is how it's looking so far.

I would have a longer post, but I need to go.

Tell me what you think, God Bless!

Well...pictures were coming...

I stayed up late last night working on the wool scarf watching a rerun of a Doctor Who episode on PBS...those things never get old...  The scarf is now about halfway done, and I was going to post pictures (I already took them), but the darn computer won't work....the pictures won't open.

So, even though I really try to post pictures when describing something, you're going to have to look at the last pictures of the wool scarf, and imagine it about three times as long.

As soon as my computer starts working again, I'll post the pictures.

God Bless!

Long Gray Rope Scarf

Here is a scarf that I did a couple months ago.

This scarf is 67 inches long (I think!), 100% acrylic, machine washable...overall a decent scarf for a decent price.  I want to note, if there is ANY scarf on here that you would like, but you want it in another color (like, a school color) or a different yarn, I will make it to order, and you will get it very promptly!

This scarf is only $10!

Forgot about the gloves...

Just remembered to post this, I finished the other glove!  It looks okay... surprisingly both gloves are nearly the same size...and they both fit....

That's all,
God Bless!

Scarf Update...

The wool scarf is still a work in progress...actually, its a work that hasn't progressed since yesterday...so no new pictures today....  But, never fear, I will try to work on it tomorrow, and then post pic's of how it's shaping out.

God bless everybody!

Wool scarf in progress...

This is the scarf that I mentioned I was working on.  It's 100% wool yarn from Iceland,  I've been meaning to use this stuff for a while...  Honestly though, it's been frustrating to knit with.  This is the third time that I've tried to make a scarf out of it!  The first time, the skien was all tangled up and I had to start over.  The second time it was going fine, but then I realized that it was two stitches too wide...so I had to tear it all out...again, or else I wouldn't have enough yarn to finish the scarf.

Here's how it's going so far.

Not bad!  It should be finished in a few days, then I'll post it again.

Tell me what you think!

God Bless!

Attempt at Gloves...

Last night I decided to knit something other than a scarf.  I really haven't done many other projects than scarves, so I tried a glove.

Here's how the first attempt ended.

Not great...it was about two inches too wide, so I didn't finish it.  But the second try got closer...

Overall, not bad!  I still haven't made a left glove to match it, probably will do that tonight.

I'm working on another scarf project, I'll probably finish and post it tomorrow.

God Bless!

Row Scarves

These are two simple scarves, there's not much fancy in the design, but they're great value for the price, $10 each!  They are both about 70 inches long, 100% acrylic, soft and warm, good for a winter utility scarf (getting the mail, walking the dog, etc.).

Ribs and Bars Scarf

This scarf is 100% acrylic, so it's washable, yet extremely soft!  it is 75 inches long, so it is a longer scarf, great for cold, snowy days up north.  This scarf is also a bargain, priced at $15.  Great scarf, great price, what more could you ask for?

God Bless!

Gray Zig-Zag Scarf

This scarf is made out of the same 75/25 acrylic/wool blend as the diamond scarf.  It is 66 inches long, soft, washable and warm...pretty much everything you need from a scarf.  I'm selling it for $20, feel free to comment!

God Bless!

Popcorn Scarf

This is a fairly simple scarf, all you do is knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one, etc.  While being simple, it is a very nice scarf.  I believe that this one is 75/25 acrylic/wool.  It is not overly soft, but is comfortable.  It is fifty-seven and a half inches long, and is selling for $20 (USD).

God Bless!

Gray Cable Scarf

This is another cable scarf, 100% acrylic, soft.  It is 65 inches long, and will be very warm this winter!  I'm selling this one for $20, which is reasonable for a cable-knit scarf.

Please, any feedback would be great, and if anyone is interested in purchasing this or any other scarf on my site, email me at-samsellsscarves@gmail.com

God Bless!

Green Zig-Zag Scarves

This scarf is 75% acrylic-25% wool, thus both soft and washable.   It is seventy-one and a half inches long, and priced at twenty dollars.

And here is another similar scarf.

This one is made of the same materials as the last one (75/25 acrylic-wool), washable, and very soft.  This one is shorter at 65 inches, but still a reasonable length.  The price is $20.

Again, all of my scarves are unique, I don't follow a pattern, I don't copy anyone.  What you would be buying is one of a kind.

Tell me what you think!

God Bless!

Orange Cable Scarf

Here is a scarf that I made in about one day.

It's what I call a rope scarf.  It rolls up on itself, giving it the appearance of a 'rope' (I'm very creative with the names).

Cabling, for any who don't know, is not easy.  I made this in less than 12 hours because I was going to craft sale that afternoon.

The scarf is 100% acrylic, so it is machine washable.  It is 58 inches in length, so it's a shorter scarf.  Reasonably priced at $20.

SOLD--Even though this scarf has sold, I can still make one to order in any color!

Tell me what you think,

God Bless!
