Does anyone else spend too much time on the TV? I don't know, it could just be me.
I saw the Duggars on TLC the other day, and they were talking about how they don't watch any TV, being rather ironic since they are on TV. But they made a good point, we are all on it way too much. So I decided to try a little experiment, and go as long as possible without turning on the television.......I might be going insane....
For the fun of it, I'm going to blog about this crazy quest of mine. I'm going to put a gadget on the sidebar, counting the number of days that I don't turn on the TV. Here are the rules for anyone who wants to join me. And do join!
-You cannot turn on the TV, AT ALL! Unless there is some major catastrophe, historic event, or a once-in-a-billion-year occurrence (like a planet disappearing or something).
-You are allowed to watch your favorite football team's game on Sunday (mine is the Colts, if I didn't see that, I'd go crazy). But after the game, TURN THE TV OFF!!!
-You don't lose if there is some kiddie show on in the house and you happen to see it in passing. You didn't turn it on, you're not watching it...you're okay. Just don't watch it.
-You can watch Mass on EWTN or another channel.
-Again, you can't turn on the TV, don't think about it, take it away, put it in the basement (mine was already there), do something!
-Try to fill the time that you would be watching TV with, by reading, knitting, playing basketball (out in the cold), going snowboarding (later in the year), or even catching up on school. Be creative with your time, and I think that we'll see that we're doing more, and doing better.
Alright, those are the guidelines.....now for the hard part. There's a Doctor Who episode on tonight...I'll try to restrain myself.
God Bless, and good luck.
